The Exclusion Process

The inspection is a complete look at the interior and the exterior of the site. We focus on areas that provide food, water, and a safe home for the critter. Our objective is to find all entry points into the home. Our inspection includes door and window thresholds, rooftops, gutters and downspouts, utility lines, facia gap, soffit returns and of course any damaged areas of the structure.

The first sign of entry is gnawing marks.
There are also urine trails, droppings, and a oily residue from the rodents hair.

The most common areas of a rodent infestation are: attics, basements, raised foundations, fireplaces, and crawlspaces. They enter these areas through roof joints, between wood trim and siding, gas and electrical lines, poorly fitted doors, vents that are not tightly fitted to the roof. There are also gaps in slabs and foundations.

A common area is where the wall framing meets the foundation. That area could provide large enough openings for rodent entry. The roof to soffit return offers easy access into the attic space of a home if not constructed properly. The gap between the facia board and roof decking (known as construction gap) gives a rodent a open edge to chew on to make a large enough opening into attic spaces.

A rodent only needs 1/4 of a inch opening to gain entry into a space. If they can fit their nose into a space they can squeeze the rest of their body through. The front teeth of rats and squirrels are able to enlarge holes in wood to size they need for easy entry.

Our exclusion methods seal all of these places with material that cannot be chewed through.
